| چکیده | ||

| چکیده [العربیة] | ||
| Vladimir Propp as a Russian structuralist and folklorist, has tried to formulate a single system that works in all tales without considering the divergence between language, literature and culture. The Book of Kings or Shahnamah of Ferdowsî is one of the masterpieces of Persian literature which is considered as the cultural heritage and identity of our historical past. This study aims to present whether all these constant structures and permanent functions sought by Propp are applicable through a part of Shahnamah entitled Zahhak. Propp developed his theory by studying folk tales, which have a relatively simple narrative structure. Shahnamah, being an epic work, is much more complex. It would be important to examine to what extent Propp’s functions apply to this epic narrative and whether some functions are more relevant than others. In addition, given the inseparable aspect of form and content, we will mention the impact of the epic on Iranian society. This leads us to analyze well also the characteristics of the tale and the timeless notions at the confluence of form and content that characterize the work of Ferdowsî. It would be interesting to examine how an allegorical representation of society as well as human imperfection are manifested in the tale of Zahhak. | ||
