| Pour décrire un contexte altéritaire, l’auteur est obligé de transcrire un univers dont la sémiotisation apparaît difficile voire floue. Autrement dit, il est confronté à une irrégularité entre le niveau linguistique et sémantico-référentiel, entre la référence textuelle et l’univers référentiel. Vue la saisie linguistique relative de l’Autre, comment les énonciateurs-voyageurs procèdent-ils à la comparaison avec leurs lacunes lexicales? Nous nous intéressons par conséquent dans ce travail aux données comparatives et celles relevant de l’intention discursive, littéraire, interculturelle et auctoriale qui donnent à voir le fonctionnement représentationnel du langage en situation d’altérité et la capacité de la langue à dire un univers étranger. Etant un acte cognitif et créatif, nous allons voir comment la comparaison gère la saisie d’un univers étranger qui est, a priori, impossible. Nous cherchons donc à étudier l’évolution et les stratégies de la « réalisation » de cette assimilation interculturelle dans un univers que l’on peut qualifier de l’incomparable. Notre questionnement est né de la problématique de la reproduction des mondes étrangers, en l’occurrence les récits des voyageurs français en Orient du XIXe siècle parmi lesquels six œuvres ont été choisies de par l’importance de leur réception et leur qualité de précision dans la description. Nous analyserons donc le fonctionnement de la langue dans son rapport au réel en situation d’altérité à l’aide de notre corpus de récits de six voyageurs: Mathieu Claude compte de Gardane, Pierre-Amédée-Émilien-Probe Jaubert, J. M. Tancoigne, Jacques Morier, Gaspard Drouville et Adrien Dupré. | ||

| The Restrictions of the Assimilation of “Realia” in an Exotic Context Intra- and inter-Culturalism in the Representation of the other | ||

| To describe an exotic context, the author is obliged to transcribe a universe whose semiotisation appears difficult or even uncertain. In other words, he is confronted with an irregularity between the linguistic and semantico-referential level, between the textual reference and the referential universe. Since traveler-writers have an imperfect, limited and partial seizure of the foreign world - linguistically, culturally, practically, socially and historically - in what way do they proceed to compare the two universes and construct the textual reference? We are therefore interested in comparative and discursive, literary and intercultural intention that show the representational functioning of language in situations of otherness and the capacity of language to speak a foreign universe. Being a cognitive and creative act, we will see how the comparison manages the seizure of a foreign universe which is, a priori, impossible. Our questioning was born from the problem of the reproduction of foreign worlds, in this case the stories of French travelers in the East of the nineteenth century among which six works were chosen because of the importance of their reception and their quality of precision in the description. We will therefore analyze the functioning of language in its relation to reality in a situation of otherness using our corpus of travel narratives. | ||
